“Deep Blue like the True Sea。 Red like the roofs of the Shu temples。 The pure， buttery colour of sunlight – all the colours you can’t see in the dark。” this graphic novel is an adaption of the ebook that is the origin story of aleksander morozova， the darkling - aka my most favourite villain / antagonist in anything ever it added some more depth to his story， which was nice。 this is actually my first graphic novel and I’m so happy about the paper quality of the pages， they’re so smooth！

Uno scorcio della vita dell'oscuro prima della storia in "Tenebre e ossa"。Ho amato la storia e la scelta di raccontarla attraverso una grapich novel。I disegni sono meravigliosi， curati nei minimi dettagli。Anche il libro in sé fa la sua figura， praticamente da collezione。 Una volta conclusa la trilogia avrei pagato per avere un libro dal punto di vista dell'oscuro; trovo che sia un personaggio davvero affascinante e credibile。"Demone nel bosco" ci offre sicuramente qualcosa del genere e vorrei ta Uno scorcio della vita dell'oscuro prima della storia in "Tenebre e ossa"。Ho amato la storia e la scelta di raccontarla attraverso una grapich novel。I disegni sono meravigliosi， curati nei minimi dettagli。Anche il libro in sé fa la sua figura， praticamente da collezione。 Una volta conclusa la trilogia avrei pagato per avere un libro dal punto di vista dell'oscuro; trovo che sia un personaggio davvero affascinante e credibile。"Demone nel bosco" ci offre sicuramente qualcosa del genere e vorrei tanto che la Bardugo decidesse di far uscire ulteriori volumi del genere。 。。。more

Demone nel bosco ci narra un piccolo episodio della vita dell’Oscuro。 A soli tredici anni， insieme alla madre， vive fuggendo e cambiando identità più e più volte， quasi dimenticando il suo vero nome。 Ma lui e sua madre sono due Grisha molto potenti e non possono permettersi di abbassare la guardia。Sua madre gli ha insegnato ad essere un leader， a saper prendere e osservare ogni dettaglio。 Gli ha insegnato a non fidarsi e sapersi proteggere， ad ogni costo。Non si fermano mai nello stesso villaggio Demone nel bosco ci narra un piccolo episodio della vita dell’Oscuro。 A soli tredici anni， insieme alla madre， vive fuggendo e cambiando identità più e più volte， quasi dimenticando il suo vero nome。 Ma lui e sua madre sono due Grisha molto potenti e non possono permettersi di abbassare la guardia。Sua madre gli ha insegnato ad essere un leader， a saper prendere e osservare ogni dettaglio。 Gli ha insegnato a non fidarsi e sapersi proteggere， ad ogni costo。Non si fermano mai nello stesso villaggio， mai nello stesso posto per troppo tempo perché i Grisha sono ancora cacciati e temuti。 Devono nascondersi agli occhi degli altri e lo fanno nascondendo le loro capacità e i loro doni， nascondendo chi sono realmente。 Non esiste nessun luogo dove essere al sicuro， sono condannati ad essere cacciati e a fuggire invece di vivere la loro vita。Con questo piccolo scorcio che ci mostra un Oscuro ragazzino， ho compreso le sue scelte。 C’è la voglia di riscatto， la voglia di offrire una vita dignitosa ai Grisha， la voglia di creare un mondo in cui non essere sempre in fuga。 Forse non si può giustificare ogni suo gesto successivo， ma possiamo almeno comprenderne le motivazioni。L’unico difetto della graphic novel è la lunghezza， l’ho trovata davvero corta ed è un peccato perché è talmente scorrevole e ben fatta che avrei letto molto di più。Le tavole sono davvero molto belle， mi sono piaciuti sia i disegni che i colori。 L’illustratrice， Dani Pendergast， è stata bravissima nel creare il tutto。 I complimenti a Leigh Bardugo non sono mai troppi， sono felice che ci abbia regalato questa finestra sulla vita dell’Oscuro e spero ne regali altri。Riconfermo il mio amore per questo personaggio， un personaggio enigmatico e dalle mille sfaccettature che mi ha conquistato alla prima lettura。Demone nel bosco è consigliato a chi ha amato Tenebre e Ossa， ma anche a chi non ha mai letto niente del mondo Grishaverse。 È un prequel che， a mio parere， può essere letto tranquillamente da solo o per iniziare la serie。4 stelle su 5A presto，la vostra Alexia。 。。。more

It was great seeing The Darklings origins， it gives you more of a look into why he is the way that he is， its hard to see him as 100% villain。 The illustrations are beautiful 😍 made me feel excited about the Grishaverse again while I wait for s2 of shadow and bone 🥰

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 as short as it is， i think this book was positively spectacular。 it gives us insight on who the darkling was， as a mere child。 it shows us that baghra was more cruel than we could possibly imagine， but also that she was a mother。 she truly loved the darkling and she would’ve done anything for him。 it’s astonishing to me to see who he was before the person that we know from the original trilogy and i find that i understand， and feel more for him than i ever did before。 he’s had a certain affinity as short as it is， i think this book was positively spectacular。 it gives us insight on who the darkling was， as a mere child。 it shows us that baghra was more cruel than we could possibly imagine， but also that she was a mother。 she truly loved the darkling and she would’ve done anything for him。 it’s astonishing to me to see who he was before the person that we know from the original trilogy and i find that i understand， and feel more for him than i ever did before。 he’s had a certain affinity for darkness etched into his bones （literally） from his birth。 and while there is that element， i feel that he truly became who he was because of everything he went through。 he was hated for who he was by default， but he was also hunted by his own kind， because of his power。 this story shows that all he ever wanted was for a safe place for grisha to study and grow up。 what happened later， with years of greed and lust for power is what drove him to he the villain we all know。 but， in his core， before everything， he was a boy， wanting a place where he could grow roots， burdened by too grave of a power。 i am grateful for this book and for the darkling purely because it’s been a delight to get to know and dissect such a complex character and at the end of the day， i can say i can’t ever really hate him。 i think he’s done awful things and i think that in his later life the power lust got the better of him， but we can’t judge his character without looking at the whole picture。 （another thing， i quite recommend the audiobook， our very own ben barnes is one of the narrators and the book was narrated splendidly） 。。。more

The darkling is one of the most interesting characters introduced in the original trilogy。 I had read the short story and the dramatization in the audiobook was lovely albeit too short。 I am looking forward to the graphic novel too。
